I find hot glass to be 2 parts skill and 1 part luck. You set out with one idea in mind, and often another completely unrelated idea takes over. It's like drawing with honey, and molding with Jell-O. And it's fabulous. Lampworking is the art of melting compatible glass rods in an oxygen-propane torch and wrapping them around coated mandrels (metal sticks). Once melted, and annealed in a kiln, these beads then cool and can be removed from the mandrels, leaving a small hole in the centre of your bead. Colours and textures can be blended to create completely unique individual works of art. In addition, I love what the kiln itself does to glass. I also create fused glass pendants and vessels much to my surprise and delight! Thanks for joining me in my journey in glass. Sharon
